Wodonga Institute of Tafe

Wodonga Institute of TAFE was judged Australian large training provider of the year in 2008 due to its committment to lead practice and excellence in the delivery of vocational education and training to highly diverse groups of learners who are drawn from a wide range of industry and the community. Wodonga institute’s teachers are passionate. They have either worked in or are currently working in industry, and are driven by a need to shar their knowledge with others.

Wodonga Institute delivers over 2.5 million student contact hours in this region, and further afield to every mainland state of Australia. The Institute is a significant contributor to the region’s social and economic fabric. This influence is made possible through a wide range of partnerships and links that includes industry organisations, other registered training organisations, universities, and local chambers of commerce.

The Institute provides a range of practical, hands-on training and education from Certificate I level to advanced diploma level in the following areas.

• Nursing, allied health; community services, and aged care

• Business and management, information technology, and multi-media

• Agriculture and horticulture

• Interior and building design, building construction, furniture, and cabinet making

• Engineering and metal work, electrotechnology, and telecommunications

• Hospitality, events, and tourism

• Sport, fitness, and recreation

Enrolling in one of the wide range of short courses at Wodonga Institute is a proven way to gain skills quickly for a promotion, to find a new job, or to pursue a hobby. A new range of business short courses is now being provided in partnership with VECCI to provide targeted skills to business owners and managers.

Wodonga Institute’s teachers continually receive the seal of approval from their students for their commitment, their industry knowledge, and their willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ to help students achieve their goals.

Students consistently report high levels of satisfaction with their learning experiences at the Institute. In 2008, 97 per cent of students were satisfied or highly satisfied with their learning experience, and 99 per cent of those surveyed indicated that they would recommend Wodonga Institute to others.

Over 91 per cent of employers were satisfied or very satisfied with training the provided by Wodonga Institute. Of those employers surveyed, 97 per cent indicated that they intended to approach the Institute again for staff training in the future. Over 96 per cent of graduates are employed following the completion of their studies at Wodonga Institute.
