Telstra Country Wide
Telstra Country Wide is Telstra’s local face that is committed to delivering leading telecommunications products and services to customers in regional, rural and remote Australia
TCW, as we are commonly known, brings Australians closer together by breaking down the tyranny of distance created by our small population and large landmass. We operate out of 52 locations across Australia. Our presence across regional and rural Australia means that our local customers are served by local people who live and work in the area. This gives Telstra a greater understanding of the telecommunications needs of regional and rural communities across the country. Here in the Murray Riverina region, our team operates out of Albury Wodonga, the heart of the Murray region. As local people living in the local community, we are committed to driving improvements across the region, with a big focus on delivering high-speed broadband and next generation mobile telecommunications services through Telstra’s Next G™ network. On the scene when Australians need us Telstra is always on the ground supporting communities during times of natural disaster, as we were during the Victorian bushfires and floods in northern New South Wales and south-east Queensland. While Telstra’s technicians were working to get fire-affected exchanges and wireless networks up and running immediately after Black Saturday, Telstra Country Wide staff remained on the ground to help get people connected. We provided over 1000 Next G™ mobile phones and arranged around 1400 disaster relief packages and customer diversions, as well as thousands of mobile phone chargers and prepaid recharges. Payphones were switched to free calls in affected areas. Our local Murray Riverina team was on the scene in the aftermath of the Myrtleford Beechworth fires, working with the community to personally deliver loan phones and offer billing support to those affected by the tragedy.
Telstra Country Wide working to reconnect customers after Black Saturday As our account managers live and work in regional and rural communities, TCW in the Murray Riverina region also assists local
business with their challenges. Telecommunications can improve the quality of life for people living
in regional and rural locations, providing, for example, remote screening for breast cancer (Breast
Screen Victoria & Tasmania), communication requirements for regional doctors (Royal Flying Doctors Service), education needs for isolated children (stakeholder relationship with the Isolated Children’s and Parents Association), and on the road working solutions for Rural Nurses.
