Contributing to Albury’s commercial success is the city’s ready access to four major metropolitan markets. Albury Airport is one of the busiest regional airports in Australia with four commercial airlines operating over 200 flights a week and servicing more than 300,000 passengers each year.

Associated facilities include aircraft servicing, cargo handling, charter services, aircraft storage, flight training, avionics servicing and aircraft refurbishment.

Five freeway interchanges within the city provide easy connections to destinations north and south via the Hume Freeway. A range of local carriers and major national transport and logistics businesses with locally based headquarters, keep business on the move 24/7.

Albury is situated on the Melbourne- Sydney mainline giving businesses the opportunity to explore the potential efficiencies offered by rail freight. The Ettamogah Rail Hub, located on the mainline in Albury’s industrial growth area, is only 10 minutes from the CBD.

This intermodal hub has the capacity to handle over 100,000 tonnes of freight each year and will be supported by warehousing, an empty container pool and import and export facilities.

Investment Growth

The strength of Albury’s commercial sector is demonstrated by the positive trend in commercial and industrial investment.

Recent industrial developments include the Ettamogah Rail Hub ($22M), the Albury Airport upgrade ($5.5M) and in industrial land development (27.5M).

Over $116.5Million has been invested in retail and commercial developments in the city in recent years with the development of a bulky goods centre ($21M) and Thurgoona Plaza extension ($15M), and more than $40Million in commercial development to meet unprecedented demand for space in the CBD.
