A local Agricultural machinery business scored well when a German backpacker fell in love with the Murray region, also businesses in Albury-Wodonga and surrounding regions had an insight into lean, mean and innovative initiatives during last weeks inaugural Manufacturing week.

The Murray Now team will be attending the Careers and Employment Expo in Melbourne on 21 and 22 of May, an estimated 20,000 people are expected to attend this major Jobs event where we have the opportunity to showcase our wonderful region, talk about our industries and the real jobs we are looking for.   • Which Bank?

    The Murray Catchment Management Authority (CMA) have developed one of the most extensive, integrated seedbank and revegetation systems in the state of New South Wales.

    Supplying provenance native seed ensures that over 3000 kilometres of direct seeding can be undertaken annually by the Murray CMA to restore and revegetate under-represented species.

    “Much of the Woodland ecosystems of the NSW Murray Catchment have been in significant loss of understorey shrubs across the landscape , the consequences of this is a lack of structural and species diversity with little or no regeneration”, Martin Driver Catchment Officer for Murray CMA explains.

  • No it’s not the Walla Walla Wave!

    When Chris Wiesner from CJ & LH Wiesner employed Detlef Hoeschler from Germany and he landed in Walla Walla on a 40degree day, Detlef ‘s perception of a welcome wave was somewhat distorted. Chris and the staff had to quickly let him know that we don’t wave sideways in Walla Walla, as Chris said “It’s the Aussie way of keeping flies away from your face.”

    Even with the climate shock coming from Germany, Detlef and his family loved the Murray region and the lifestyle Walla Walla offered.

    Detlef originally backpacked around Australia in 1985, visiting the Murray region and worked for a time at Claas Agricultural Machinery in Albury. Detlef went back to Germany with the memories of Australia never far from his mind.

  • Murray Produce on show in Asia

    A Finley snack food manufacturer looks set to win contracts to supply produce to the lucrative Singapore and Dubai markets.

    Sun Valley produces a preservative free natural fruit bar and recently attended Asia’s largest food and hospitality trade show, the Food and Hotel Asia Expo in Singapore. It was an opportunity for the Finley manufacturer to showcase its popular fruit bar to potential agents, distributors and buyers.

    Sun Valley was one of 20 companies supported by NSW State and Regional Development at the event, designed to assist them win lucrative overseas contracts.

    Sun Valley Managing Director Eric Dean was overwhelmed with the feedback.

  • Industry on Show

    Businesses in Albury Wodonga and surrounding regions of the Murray certainly felt they got their two bobs worth at the inaugural Albury-Wodonga Manufacturing, Innovation and Business Week held last week.

    Kerryn Arnold, Manager of the Albury & Northside Chambers was very pleased with the cross section of business that attended, and also the support and encouragement she received from regional business and industry that demonstrated their support of this inaugural cross-border event.
